Dear Lurgio Families,
After some very mild weeks of weather, it appears winter has returned. The rain/ice/snow has unfortunately resulted in the cancellation of our dance. The good news is that we have rescheduled the event for March 6.

New News

Cub of the Week
Each week, teachers nominate students for the Cub of the Week Award. Nominated students are those who have shown exceptional kindness, tolerance, and respect during the week. Each Friday, the Lurgio administration and guidance staff will review all nominees and will select the “Cub of the Week.”
This week’s Cub of the Week is Alex Peters-Demetriou. Alex is known for his kind, supportive and inclusive nature. Recently, Alex was nominated by his coach for his outstanding leadership and support while competing for Lurgio’s robotics team. During the competition in the face of pressure and challenges, he showed himself to be a diligent, supportive leader of his team. Thank you, Alex, for making Lurgio a wonderful place to learn.

RAL School Dance Postponed to March 6th

Due to forecasted precipitation and low temperatures, the school dance that was scheduled for tonight, February 7th, has been postponed. The dance will now take place on Friday, March 6th from 6:00-9:00PM.Thank you in advance for your understanding and flexibility.

Cold/Flu Clarification

In last week’s edition of the Lurgio News, I spoke to some good practices regarding student health.  I would like to clarify one point regarding students returning to school after illness. It is advisable for students to stay out of school for 24 hours after they are free of fever, vomiting, or diarrhea.  However, you do not need to wait for symptoms like coughing or a runny nose to subside as they can last for weeks.

Family Physical Therapy - Functional Movement Screen
Family Physical Therapy Services would like to offer ALL Lurgio athletes a 20% Discount on the Functional Movement Screen, please see below a link to our website further describing the FMS screen as well as other services we provide for young athletes.
What is the Functional Movement Screen?

The FMS assesses your ability to perform key functional patterns such as squatting, lunging and stepping as well as screening for flexibility and core control. In doing so, we can identify weaknesses and faulty movement patterns which affect performance and, even worse, could eventually lead to injury. In just 30 minutes, you will have good idea of how well you move and how to CORRECT your WEAK LINKS!
