Cub of the Week

Each week, teachers nominate students for the Cub of the Week Award. Nominated students are those who have shown exceptional kindness, tolerance, and respect during the week. Each Friday, the Lurgio administration and guidance staff will review all nominees and will select the “Cub of the Week.”

This week’s Cub of the Week is Reagan Rayne! Reagan is an incredibly positive young woman who kind heart to all students. She well regarded by both staff and students for her consitent simple acts of kindness that lift the spirits of her peers. Reagan is a model of kindness and consideration, and we are very fortunate to have her as a part of our Lurgio school community!

Animal Rescue League Supply Drive

There will be a supply drive from this Monday, May 13 to Thursday, May 17 to benefit the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire. This fundraiser will be accepting donations of pet supplies such as non-perishable food for cats and dogs, new toys, cleaning supplies, collars, as well as donations of money. Students should bring their donations up to their homeroom where the items and money will be collected and recorded by the teachers. This Fundraiser will be our final pod competition for first dismissal for the rest of the year. I hope that you all can participate in helping the shelter.

Invitation for Past Members of RBS Rhythmics and RBS Singers!

We hope to connect with former Riddle Brook School chorus members. We have plans to celebrate 20 years of music-making at RBS during the spring concert, to be presented in the Bedford High School Theater on Wednesday, May 15, at 6:30 PM.

At this Spring Concert, we will share a few reunion songs including “We Are The People Of The Twenty-First Century” (from the first concert, in October, 1999.) Also planned: “Guacamole” and “Born To Make Music,” which have been sung every year by our 3rd grade chorus, as well as “Fireflies” and “One, From A Chorus Line.” These last 2 songs have been the final set of Riddle Brook School concerts for the last 9 years. We look forward to seeing many alumni and we will invite them to sing along.

The celebration begins with alumni sign-in starting at 5:45. Past chorus member will receive a special program booklet, then are invited to attend a reunion gathering in the music room. The concert begins at 6:30. Please pass this to anyone you know who is a Riddle Brook School chorus alumnus. Mrs. Munz can be reached at this email:

Weekly Features

Book Buzz

Award winning New Hampshire author Emilie Burack will be a guest presenter at our next Books for Breakfast gathering May 17, 2019, so today we celebrate her book The Runaway's Gold:

It is 1842 and Christopher Robertson and his family are on the brink of starvation. Living in a tiny stone cottage on the Shetland Island coast, they work as farmers and fishermen so in debt to their landowner that they have no hope of ever breaking free.  With a cruel father, two troublesome sisters, and a brother up to no good, life couldn't be worse. Or so Chris thinks. When his brother frames him for the theft of their father's secret bag of coins, Chris has no choice but to runaway. Chris's quest to find the stolen coins and clear his name takes many twists and turns, including time in prison and at the home of a beautiful girl--until he finds a clue to another stash of coins left by a mysterious American spy from New York City.  A place, he soon discovers, that has dangers of its own.

Tech Corner

As we head into the end of the school year, we need everyone’s help to keep students in a regular routine of charging and bringing their chromebooks to school every day.

Athletics This Week

BHS Boys’ Ice Hockey Information Session

We will be hosting an information session with the BHS Hockey Team captains for any 8th grade boy interested in playing ice hockey next year at Bedford High School. All interested students should report to the media center at WIN (2:35) on Monday, May 13th to learn more about the program.

Inclement Weather & Schedule Changes

Weather cancellations can be tricky during the spring season, but you can stay informed in a variety of ways. We try to make the call by 1PM in the case of inclement weather. Please check the Lurgio homepage for school updates or the weekly schedule on our athletics website. In addition, you may want to check your email because coaches often communicate with parents once a call has been made.

Weekly Schedule

As always, the weekly schedule is available on our athletics website.
