Athletics This Week

Inclement Weather & Schedule Changes

Weather cancellations can be tricky during the spring season, but you can stay informed in a variety of ways. We try to make the call by 1PM in the case of inclement weather.  Please check the Lurgio homepage for school updates or the weekly schedule on our athletics website. In addition, you may want to check your email because coaches often communicate with parents once a call has been made.

Girls’ Lacrosse Club

The first meeting of the girls’ lacrosse club will take place on Monday, April 15th after school at the SAU Field. Players will do drills, practice techniques, and scrimmage each other over the course of April and May. Practices will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30PM-5:00PM. For more information, contact Mrs. Gauthier at gauthierk@sau25.net. Students should have a recent concussion test on file and completed paperwork from the athletics website in order to attend.

Weekly Schedule

As always, the weekly schedule is available on our athletics website.

Stand By Me

Support Stand By Me

Stand By Me is 100% funded by businesses, community groups, and families. Stand By Me receives no funding from the school district and it is still going strong after 30 years!  Please consider participating in the following to help raise funds:

Flight Coffee, Bedford based, will donate $5 for each 12oz bag sold.  Order online: Flightcoffeeco.com and click on Shop/look for fundraisers.

TC Skincare, for the entire month of April and May, when you book an Express Facial or the 60-minute EFT Tapping (a wonderful technique on how to de-stress), will donate $5.00 of the profits to STAND BY ME.

Book Buzz

What's better than baseball and spring? Baseball and Books for Breakfast! Thank you Coach Demers and Coach Stevener! The boys baseball and girls softball teams joined Books for Breakfast today to celebrate baseball books and other favorite reads:
First book on deck is Heat by Mike Lupica:

Michael Arroyo has a pitching arm that throws serious heat along with aspirations of leading his team all the way to the Little League World Series. But his firepower is nothing compared to the heat Michael faces in his day-to-day life. Newly orphaned after his father led the family’s escape from Cuba, Michael’s only family is his seventeen-yearold brother Carlos. If Social Services hears of their situation, they will be separated in the foster-care system—or worse, sent back to Cuba.
Next up is Baseball Genius by Tim Green and Derek Jeter:

Jalen DeLuca loves baseball. Unfortunately his dad can’t afford to keep him on the travel team. His dad runs a diner and makes enough to cover the bills, but there isn’t anything for extras. So Jalen decides to take matters into his own hands and he sneaks into the home of the New York Yankees star second baseman, James Yager, and steals a couple of balls from his personal batting cage. He knows that if he can sell them, he’ll be able to keep himself on the team.
