Superintendent Feedback Survey Results
From Superintendent McGee:

You may recall that I recently asked you to complete a survey on my performance this year. The purpose of the survey was to gather feedback to improve.  Here are the results. Thank you to the respondents (107 employees, 321 parents, 4 students, and 14 community members).  One competency where I was rated relatively high was "listens, analyzes and responds to issues related to the needs of the community (including students, teachers, parents and residents)."  One competency that was relatively low was “recognizes diversity and promotes acceptance and tolerance within the school district community.”  I appreciate all the feedback and will work, in particular, on doing a better job recognizing diversity and promoting acceptance and tolerance.

Course Registration Due
Registration for 8th grade courses is today. All recommendations from teachers have been entered, and you are able to access the registration portal by clicking here.

If you need a refresher on how to navigate the course registration process, please find step-by-step instructions here.

Please remember that if your child is in band or chorus, you should register them for that class at this time as well.

BHS Parent Information Night
An 8th grade Parent Information Night is scheduled on May 21 at 6:00pm in the theater.  During this session our BHS Leadership Team will talk about the "Nuts and Bolts" of high school from the schedule to competencies to extra curricular involvement.

Summer School Registration at BHS
Students who requested to take In Writing at BHS during summer 2015 are now able to register for summer school and pay online. Please visit the Summer School tab on the BHS homepage to complete registration. Note that this process needs to be completed even if students requested this option in Power School in February. BASE Camp (freshmen orientation) registration is also open and can be found on the same page or by clicking here. For instructions on using the online payment system please visit: http://linkyy.com/SendMoneyToSchoolInstructions

Mexican Food and National History Day - Thursday, May 7
Join your National History Day teams as they try to raise money for their trip to the Nationals at the University of Maryland from June 14-18, 2015.  On Thursday, May 7, eat in or take out at Shorty’s Mexican Roadhouse for lunch or dinner.  Let your server know you are there supporting the NHD Fair Share Event and before you leave, drop your itemized receipt in the envelope at the host stand.  15% of proceeds will go to your NHD Lurgio team.  Your support is truly appreciated!

BEF Grant Recipients
The BEF is excited to announce the 2015 BEF Grant Recipient list to the community.  The foundation had many outstanding grant applications and are pleased to support the following:

Lisa Dudgeon, Bedford High School
Jessica Ferenc, Peter Woodbury School
Georgia Brussard, Lurgio Middle School
Courtney Cheetham, Lurgio Middle School
Joanne Tranchemontagne, Lurgio Middle School
Josefine Garcia, Memorial Elementary School
Jodi Parson, McKelvie Intermediate School

The BEF is grateful to all those who donated money to support these grants.  This year they received support from two local organizations, The Bedford Rotary and Bedford Kids First Trust, who helped significantly by funding full grants that met the specific organization's missions.  These types of partnerships are new to the BEF and the foundation is pleased to be working collaboratively with these wonderful organizations.

All 2015 award winners will be honored at a reception May 7th at 5:00 PM in the atrium of Bedford High School.  The community is invited to attend.
