LURGIO NEWS

May 21, 2021

Dear Lurgio Families,

With just fourteen days left of school, the end of a very challenging year is in sight. I am excited to join our 8th students and Lurgio staff that are heading to Cardigan at the beginning of next week.  If you have a student making the trip, please know that sunscreen, insect repellent, hats, and lots of water are going to make the trip much more enjoyable.

Be well,

Ed

8th Grade Mt. Cardigan Experience Reminder

This is a reminder that 8th grade classes are going to Mount Cardigan for extended day trips next week.

Monday: 8 East (Yellow) with 8 West (Red) Remote Students

Tuesday: 8 West (Red) with 8 South Nadolna/Baker Homerooms

Wednesday: 8 North (Blue) with 8 South Courchesne/Arendarcyzk Homerooms

Please make sure students have a hat, plenty of water, sunscreen, and insect repellent for our spring hike. They should also bring a lunch (if they have not ordered one ahead of time).

We are excited for this adventure with our grade 8 students! Many thanks to families for their help in preparing or this trip.

8th Grade Block Party

Attention 8th Grade Students! Please save the date for our end-of-year outdoor celebration on Friday, June 4 from 6:00PM-9:00PM. Games, food trucks, and activities are on the agenda! Tickets are $5, with the option to purchase food and drink from vendors at the event.

Notes from the Nurse

1) If your student is attending Cardigan and uses an inhaler or Epi pen, please have them place it in their day pack for the trip.

2) If your student is planning on getting the COVID 19 vaccine, please send/email   the completed vaccination record after the second dose.  If your student is an 8th grader and the doses are given over the summer, please provide a copy to the BHS nurses office:    mastrodicasar@sau25.net (Rene) or gunningm@sau25.net (Maura)

3) Please have your student bring a water bottle to school with the warmer weather.

4) There has been an influx of students presenting with complaints of nasal congestion/runny noses/headaches. As you know, these simulate several symptoms of covid. As per NH-DHHS, covid parameters for schools have not changed and we are obligated to dismiss any student for covid testing if experiencing any of these symptoms UNLESS we have an MD note on file stating your student has a preexisting condition of seasonal allergies.  Please help us avoid an unnecessary dismissal and COVID tests by obtaining these notes for us prior to your student visiting the nurse. Thanks so much!

Thanks so much!

The New Hampshire Department of Education is partnering with New Hampshire camps and

school-age summer programs across the state to offer students the unique opportunity to move beyond COVID-19 and be a kid again. Students of all ages, backgrounds and abilities benefit from exposure to short-term summer enrichment programs, including in the areas of challenge, friend-making, positivity, and emotional safety. These are all things that New Hampshire camps and school-age programs do best. Visit http://rekindlingcuriosityeducation.nh.gov for more details.

Grades K-6 Masks & Recess

Beginning Monday, May 10th masks at recess will be OPTIONAL.

- All employees who want to be vaccinated have had the opportunity to do so

- Per DHHS recommendations, we will continue to REQUIRE masks in the buildings.

- Team sports will continue to follow NHIAA protocols.
