Dear Parents and Guardians,

Please join us in congratulating our new Superintendent of Schools, Mike Fournier. We wish him well as he leads our district and attends to the important work of moving our district forward. Speaking of superintendent duties, he may have a tough call to make next Wednesday morning if the weather forecast holds up!

Fueled by Kids Food Drive

This year, Lurgio will again be helping Fueled by Kids to put together food items for students in need over February vacation. Lurgio is collecting jars of peanut butter (26 oz) and boxes of graham crackers (info flyer). This is a homeroom competition, and the homeroom in each grade that brings in the most items will earn a pizza party. Collections will run until February 19th. If you have any questions, please see Dr. Fairhurst, Ms. Mazzola or Kate Mikol.

Paper Retriever Recycling
Unfortunately, the green and yellow paper recycling containers (Paper Retriever), which were available to parents/community members have been removed from the district’s schools as this company has gone out of business.  Therefore, there will no longer be any containers available on school grounds for the public.

These extensions are free for everyone so feel free to install them for yourself if you have a personal Google account and need a little help keeping focused.
Stay Focusd - StayFocusd is a productivity extension for Google Chrome that helps you stay focused on work by restricting the amount of time you can spend on time-wasting websites.

Book Buzz

Steve Sheinkin used to write history textbooks and now writes history books for kids. His new series is called Time Twisters. (Think Magic tree House for middle school). His first is called Abraham Lincoln Pro Wrestler:

WARNING: DO NOT BELIEVE THE STORY YOU’RE ABOUT TO READ. Well, you can believe some of it. There is some real history. But also hijinks. Time travel, and famous figures setting off on adventures that definitely never happened―till now. Time is getting twisted, and it’s up to two kids to straighten things out.

When Abraham Lincoln overhears a classroom of kids say “history is boring,” he decides to teach them a lesson. Lincoln escapes from 1860―to pursue his dream of becoming a professional wrestler! Now siblings Doc and Abby have to convince Lincoln to go back to Springfield, Illinois, and accept the presidency... before everything spins out of control!
