Lurgio News for May 6, 2016

LURGIO NEWS
May 06, 2016

Dear Parents,

I would like to take this opportunity to wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms of our school community. Despite the somewhat dreary forecast for the weekend, we know that you bring sunshine to the lives of our students each day. Please enjoy the day with your families.

Speaking of bringing sunshine into the lives of others, our PTG volunteers went above and beyond this week to recognize and thank our teachers during National Teacher Appreciation Week. I cannot say enough about how fortunate I feel to work in a district filled with such supportive parents and community members.

Sincerely,

Ed Joyce

Bus Services
Our transportation provider, STA, is struggling to find enough qualified drivers. When we have a new or substitute driver, a bus route might be slower than normal.  Also, field trips and athletic events may be impacted if drivers are not available. Please be patient with the wonderful bus drivers we do have.  They are doing their best!

Substance Abuse Talk 7PM Tuesday May 10 Bedford Public Library
Timothy Rourke, Director of Substance Use Disorders Grantmaking and Strategic Initiatives, will be speaking.  It is a community event sponsored by the Bedford Republicans.  The topic is as follows: NH’s heroin epidemic, what the state is doing to address it, and what parents and members of the community should be doing to combat the problem.

Shoes, Bags & Belts!
Bedford Destination Imagination is having a special drive through Ecosmith Recyclers.  From now until May 15th, you can donate all your old shoes, bags and belts (any condition) in the marked boxes in our school lobby.  This is a great way to get your spring cleaning under way, while helping raise funds for the Lurgio team heading to Global Finals in Knoxville, TN.  Remember, clothing, fabrics and stuffed animals can always be donated in the bin in the parking lot.  We appreciate your support.
