Cub of the Week
Each week, teachers nominate students for the Cub of the Week Award. Nominated students are those who have shown exceptional kindness, tolerance, and respect during the week. Each Friday, the Lurgio administration and guidance staff will review all nominees and will select the the “Cub of the Week.”
This week’s Cub is Catherine Campbell. Catherine’s kindness and helpfulness are well known to her teachers and classmates. She is being honored as our cub of the week for going above and beyond the call to help her fellow classmates with their schoolwork. Thank you Catherine for helping to make Lurgio a wonderful place to learn. Congratulations.

Book Buzz
Books for Breakfast is abuzz about these books this week!
Gwyneth from 8 W:
"I haven't finished Melissa Sarno's JUST UNDER THE CLOUDS yet but I really like the pace of this book about two sisters. Cora, the big sister, takes care of her sister with special needs. Making it even tougher is that the girls' father died and the mother is struggling to make ends meet. Then the three of them become homeless. But the great thing is that they are always positive, always happy and always keeping the memory of their dad alive."

Cam from 7 S:
"Ridley Pearson's THE KINGDOM KEEPERS is a great series. I'm on book seven and there are ten in the series. There is tons of action and it is set in Disney. Disney after hours. And the kids are holograms and have to fight all the Disney villains. There are five kids who are the main characters and they are hired as guides in Disney. They become DHI, which means Disney Host Interactive or Daylight Hologram Imaging. It's one adventure after another and great to read."

Lurgio Tech Corner Update
In order to avoid confusion, Lurgio has had to disable the progress reports that have been available through PowerSchool. We are working closely with PowerSchool to find a solution to this report as well as the view that is on the mobile app. In the meantime, if you wish to view your students’ progress, please log into PowerSchool on your computer or chromebook.
As quarter 1 comes to a close, we are happy to report that 63% of our students did not need to borrow a daily loaner at all this quarter!! With the new quarter comes a clean loaner slate for all students. This quarter we have implemented a change in our procedure. We will email parents when their child has borrowed a Chromebook for the third time. This email is to notify you that your child has met with the Tech Team and has come up with a plan to be better prepared. Please continue to remind your child to charge their Chromebook every night!
