Special Note: Important: 19-20 Chromebook Insurance Renewal

Dear Parents,
You are receiving this email because you are eligible to renew the Chromebook insurance purchased for  Terry's Lenovo Chromebook.  Parents have the option to renew the insurance for the 19-20 school year but you must purchase this option prior to August 1st. The cost for the renewal is $29 which not only includes the accidental breakage/theft insurance but also extended manufacturer warranty.  The original manufacturer's warranty is only valid for one year. We strongly encourage parents to consider this optional insurance. All insurance claims are processed through the district. The following are estimated costs for the typical repairs if insurance is not purchased:
  • Keyboard (includes trackpad) - $50-70
  • LCD Display (generic replacement) - $43
  • Touchscreen LCD Display -$200
  • Power Connector (in Chromebook) - $30
  • Chassis - $46
  • Main Logic Board - cheaper to purchase new device.

The following options are available for payment for the extended insurance coverage.

Check
All checks should be made out to the Bedford School District. Please include your student’s name and ID number on the check. The cost of the insurance is $29. One check for multiple student insurance renewals is also acceptable.
Please mail the checks to:
McKelvie Intermediate School – Technology Hub
Attn: Sharon Goodwin
108 Liberty Hill Road
Bedford, NH 03110

Credit Card
The District uses the “Send Money To School” (http://www.sendmoneytoschool.com) service for this purpose. This is the same service that is used to deposit money into your student’s lunch account. To pay via credit card, login to your sendmoneytoschool.com account, click on the School Store and then click on the Chromebook Store to choose the 19-20 Chromebook Insurance Renewal option. Click here for the full instructions on how to pay for the Chromebook insurance via credit card. There is a $2.00 transaction fee to pay by credit card.
Thank you.

Special Note: Important Info for Grade 6 Parents: 19-20 Chromebook 1-to-1 Program

Dear Parents,
The Bedford School District is asking parents of students currently in grade 6 to select an option for your student to participate in the District’s Chromebook 1-to-1 Program at Ross A. Lurgio Middle School for the 2019-2020 school year. We believe this program is a tremendous opportunity for our students and teachers to improve teaching and learning.
Our Chromebook 1-to-1 Website has detailed information for parents regarding the program and we encourage parents to review the 1-to-1 Program and Parent Resources sections.
Parents are asked to purchase a Chromebook device for their student choosing one of the following options:
  • Purchase a Chromebook on your own
  • Purchase a Chromebook directly from the district (accidental breakage/theft insurance for the 19-20 school year included)
For families that do not opt into the Chromebook 1-to-1 Program, a loaner Chromebook device will be provided to the student during the school day. The loaner device must be checked in and out daily and will not be allowed to leave the school.
Please click on this Program Selection Form link to submit your choice for your student to participate in this exciting program. We are asking that parents submit this form for their student by June 5th, 2019 so that we can secure the best quantity pricing and plan for those purchasing from the District. You will receive a confirmation of your program option selection and further information will be communicated during the summer based on the program option you have chosen for your student. Even if you are not purchasing a device through the district, it is important that you complete the form and select the appropriate participation option.
Thank you!

Special Note: Parent Roundtable

Dear Lurgio Parents,

As part of the planning process, we are looking for parent input on the implementation of a middle school advisory program for the 2019-2020 school year.

Our goal for advisory at Lurgio is to balance the academic, social, and emotional growth of students by developing more connections within the school community to foster a positive and safe school culture and climate. We would like parent input on how to best accomplish this goal.

Please join us at Lurgio on Wednesday, May 22, at 10:00am, for a roundtable discussion about advisory. Space is limited so please RSVP to Mrs. Boyle in the main office at boyled@sau25.net. If we have an abundance of signups, we may need to add an additional date.

Sincerely,

Ed Joyce and Kristen Gauthier
