Dear Lurgio Community,
Over the past two weeks, staff and students have worked diligently to adapt to a remote learning model. As a school, we are constantly looking for the best ways to support all students. We believe that utilizing a model that lends itself to greater flexibility will be beneficial for our school community.
The current schedules for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday are not impacted by this change. However, we have worked together as a school to develop a schedule for Wednesday that includes targeted instructional opportunities and allows for more student choice and enrichment. Ms. Rockwell, our enrichment teacher, is developing options that will offer students that extend beyond their current academic coursework.
Just like the other days during the week, Wednesday is a school day. Students will still need to check in with their Pods for morning attendance and are expected to complete academic tasks throughout the day. However, on Wednesdays, students and teachers will have opportunities to work together in a more personalized, flexible way.
Teachers will be sending out pod schedules to their students which will highlight their availability to meet for office hours.
Students:
- will have the opportunity to complete assignments or make-up work.
- can ask teachers questions during office hours via email or Google Meet for further clarification and understanding.
- may reduce screen time and work asynchronously at their own pace.
- have the opportunity to receive academic services based on their needs.
- will be able to organize their schedule in order to prepare for future classes/assignments.
- will have opportunities for competency recovery.
- may have opportunities through enrichment to extend beyond their current academic coursework.
We are hopeful that this change to the remote learning schedule will assist in giving students a more personalized learning experience tailored to their academic needs. Please reach out to pod teachers with any questions you may have about the schedule.
