Dear Parents,
I am proud to say that Lurgio was chock full of parents last evening. So many of you braved the high heat and humidity to meet your student’s teachers and learn more about the academics in which they will engage this year. It was my pleasure to meet so many of you,and I hope to see you around this year.
Here’s to a great school year,
Ed Joyce
Principal

Traffic Reminders
Traffic at dismissal continues to improve, and we would like to thank all parents for following safe driving practices even in the frustration of our most high-traffic times. Today was our most efficient dismissal, with all buses making it up the hill prior to the final bell of the day!
As a reminder, please continue to follow these practices any time you are driving on campus:
- Refrain from cell phone use, even when idling.
- Load and unload only in the designated area marked by the double green areas.
- Pull all the way forward in both lanes of the pick-up/drop-off area.
- Mind the speed limit on campus (15 MPH), and remember that slower is better when student pedestrians are present.
- Reserve the use of the traffic circle for students with mobility issues (wheelchair, crutches, etc...)
- Feel free to smile and wave at your friendly outdoor duty teachers!
By continuing to follow these guidelines, we can continue to see improved traffic flow and increasingly efficient dismissals.

Update on Compostable Lunch Trays
For the 2018-2019 school year, the Bedford Food Service Department planned to purchase compostable lunch trays per the approved petition warrant article. In performing comprehensive research into companies that provide these trays, the Food Service Department, in collaboration with the NHDES, located a new and upcoming company, Grow Plastics, to provide the new lunch trays. After much development in creating a partnership with Grow Plastics and our current paper supplier Central Paper, it has been determined that the new compostable lunch trays will not be available at the start of the 2018-19 school year. However, Grow Plastics has informed the Food Service Department that the lunch trays will be available sometime this fall, and at the very latest January 2019. The Food Service Department continues to work diligently with Grow Plastics and Central Paper on our new and exciting program.
RAL Breakfast Program
Starting on Wednesday and Thursday we will be having some yummy taste testing of new homemade recipes for the breakfast program! So stop by our new breakfast cart and taste a sample of our Zucchini Muffins using local zucchini or our Banana Streusel Muffins and let us know what you think!
Thank you,
Emily Murray
Director of Food Services
